A Histological Study on the Ovarioles of some true Water Bugs (Heteroptera)

Abstract
Of the true water bugs, Hydrocorisae of Heteroptera, the numbers of ovarioles are variable 5 to 7. But the ovary of Hesperococrixa kolthoffi, Ranatra chinensis and Laccotrephes japonensis that are investigate in this research has 5 telotrophic ovarioles respectively. And some points of differences among these species are found conserving the histology of the ovarioles.
Hesperocorixa kolthoffi ... The ovary of this species is comparatively smaller than the other two species. And the shape in longitudinal section of the germarium is like a tea-spoon. The tropic core of the germarium is spherical in form, and no fibrous branches as in tree roots are found.
Ranatra chinensis and Laccotrephes japonensis ... The ovaries of these species are larger than the former (approximately 3 or 4 times). The germaria of these two species are mutually similar in a spatulla shape, and almost identical in size notwithstanding the apparent differences in their aspects. The trophic cores are also similar to a colum.
The ovaries of the H. kolthoffi are yellowish in color but those of the two species are milk like in colour.
Therefore, in consididering from a histology of ovarioles, the differences between the H. kolthoffi and the other two species reveal the separation of Family degree. But between the R. chinensis and the L. japonensis no differences were observed, And they are supposed to belong in the same Family Nepidae.
